New publication: Expressive writing for resilience after trauma

In 2016, the DCIHR research team completed a study on expressive writing for survivors of trauma. The study examined the impact of a 6-week expressive writing course led by John Evans, EdD, on measures of resilience, perceived stress, rumination, and depression in a population of individuals who had self-identified has having experienced a traumatic event within the past year. The writing intervention was found to have had a positive, clinically significant effect on all outcome measures. Our findings were published in February 2019 in Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice.  The expressive writing intervention used in the study was Duke Integrative Medicine’s recurring program offering, Transform Your Health: Write to Heal.
